Hi! Welcome to “BLOOMINGwithIVY! My name is Annemarie and I’m so happy you’re here. I am new to the blogging world and I’m so excited about my new adventure. I’ve decided that blogging will be a fun way to get out there and share what I have been researching for the past several years – studying plants. Learning what they can do for us and our pets is so important!
I’m really into learning new things everyday and being organized. Using my printables helps me keep all my information right at my fingertips. I’ll be sharing some printables that I use to help me find what I’m looking for when I need it. Throughout the year I’ll be showing my creative side – making different herbal recipes and products for my own use and also for gift giving. Packaging them in unique and beautiful ways is so much fun! Sign up for updates so you don’t miss a post! 🙂
BloomingwithIvy is a little play on words. BlOOMING refers to the fact that I’m now entering a new phase in my life. My three boys are now all in their mid to late 20’s, all grown up and on their own. It’s now time for “ME” to BLOOM! Like all plants bloom in some way, I’m following my passion to learn all about plants and all the wonderful things you can do with them.
IVY also has two meanings – Ivy is a plant whose name means faithfulness. This blog is about plants and how much they can do for us. They are faithful companions in your life if you choose to use them. I also named my new Pom pup Ivy. She is my true faithful companion in every way. We will be sure to share our little adventures often.

In 2008 I decided to lose some weight. I joined a weight loss company and after about 8 months I hit my goal. Becoming a leader with the company was my next step. Right around that time the company began developing many food products. These products were not something that I could promote so I left the company. Choosing what I put into my body is very important. I guess you could say I’m a “clean” eater. My definition of this is I try to eat only food that is “Real”. By shopping the perimeter of the grocery store, selecting organic produce and visiting local farm stands are just the basics.
I absolutely love to be outside in nature. I always feel so grounded and happy while taking walks in the woods or along the ocean, always barefoot if possible, Ivy seems to be loving the walks I take her on too. She is so small, all of 5 lbs, but what a trooper, She’ll go anywhere I take her. I love being able to have her with me. She is truly a great companion.
I’m looking forward to sharing what I find while foraging. I’m sure I’ll be finding lots of wild greens to eat in my salads and wild berries to make jams. Hopefully throughout the year I’ll be finding local farm stands with fresh fruits to make preserves. These will also make great gifts for friends and family.
My husband Norm and I grew up in the same town in New Hampshire our entire lives, over 50 years for both of us. He has recently retired and we have moved to a new state. We’ve been married for over 30 years and have three wonderful sons.

When our boys were little they all loved animals. I admit it, I did too! I think we raised at least one of everything that could live in a small enclosure – bunnies, hamsters, a guinea pig, a love bird, turtles, geckos and we even had sugar gliders, the oldest one lived for 16 years. We had so much fun with all of our pets. I taught the boys that the most important part of raising a pet was giving them love, respect, a very clean stimulating environment and their nutrition. Our sugar gliders never had processed food that you could buy in a store. The oldest one, Hershey, showed us how important the fruit and veggies that I chopped every night for 16 years made for an incredible quality of life.

I hope you decide to follow along with me! I can’t wait to hear from you and get your feedback on my posts. Write me with any questions you have about herbals. If I don’t know the answer – I’m sure I can find out. I have a great group of friends that are so knowledgeable about these topics. Looking forward to seeing you again soon : )
